I am looking for a simple poor man's solution and not an elaborate big
business set-up....

This is the situation:
We have a Samba server (Slackware with kernel 2.2.17) which shares files
including
MS Office, graphics, mp3s, etc over several win9x clients in the office.
This has been
running smoothly for a few years now.

Now there are instances where I would like to access these files from an
outside location
-- say a branch office or from home -- with most likely a win9x box with a
modem over a
land-line phone line. The server in the office can have a modem attached
directly to it, or
be attached to a "gateway/router" box which in turn has a modem attached to it.

I have read the howtos and searched the net but have not been able to find
anything
useful. Unless I missed something, the Dial-in howto is about dialling in
to share internet
connection at the head office, while the VPN howto is somewhat what I want
but has
to do with making connection through the internet.

Any suggestions, please?

TIA
