Well the K&R stuff in The C programming language is intermediate and advanced reference book. All I have to say about Knuth is that it would have been nice if he had put the necessary fortran or source in that large book to build the tools for his unique programming language. I didn't find that in there but didn't have the book all that long and was reading it with an optacon since it was too complex for other sighted people around me to read.
