Greetings: Just getting interested in what USB is all about; spending hours on the Web and reading articles/docs, etc - I still have some unanswered questions.
What are the details about "hot swapping?" All I read is that it means you can plug/unplug a device while the machine is "on".. No mention, that I could find, as to why this is possible. Is finger #1, Vcc, at zero or millivolts until a device is inserted, then it "jumps" up, mysteriously, to the required +5?? In my book; connecting any load draws current, albeit quite small in the case of a flash drive, that cannot be good for those mighty thin contacts.. I have kernels 2.4.18 and 2.4.20, and the necessary modules, so I've ordered a Flash Drive to see what cooks..
