Hi,
if you want to build a _hardware_ raid (i.e. one with a raid 
controller), you will have several options: There are controllers
(at least) made by DTP, Mylex and ICP. I only have expirience
with an ICP controler, and I like it: it came with an updated
version of their kernel driver (there is already a driver in
stock linux kernels -- made by ICP!) and an user mode program,
where you can change almost all parameters, hot plug your
devices etc., so you wont't have to boot DOS in order to do
that.

You could also try a software raid solution (raid 0,1,4,5),
that will (under certain circumstances) be faster than a hard-
ware raid, but I don't know anything about stability and
features (eg, hot plug etc).
