There is also an unrelated "unofficial" linux-newbie faq. It's geared
towards people making the transition from DOS to Linux. When I did an
altavista search for "linux newbie faq" it's the only one that popped up.
IMHO, the "unofficial" faq actually contains more f.a.q.s, and looks like
it would be more useful to a newbie. I think that both faqs need to be
publicized better, as they do no good if no one knows they exist or can
find them. The one I found is available at:

Primary site: http://home.sol.no/~corderud/linux/Index.html

Alternate site: http://xopy.rulz.ml.org/linux/lxnewbie.html(V.1.01, I think.)

the maintainers are:

xopy(Yes, it's is NOT written with a capitol 'x'..)

A considerable amount of effort has obviously gone into both faqs. Since the
"Unofficial" faq has two active maintainers, perhaps they should be brought
into the discussion. Some effort has to be made to try and get the location of
the faq listed with the relevant resources (www.linux.org, linux, documentation
project etc). I'd be glad to do what I can, but the status of these faqs and
their maintainers should be established first, if possible.
