In case you are wondering why directories and files are treated as
files, they are not the only things. Everything in Linux is a file.
A normal file.A directory. A link. Swap. Sockets. Everything. That is
why it is called a "file descriptor" in socket programming, it is the
describing the socket connection in terms of a file.
