That is a system spesific answer, namely Slackware.

Redhat has it in /usr/doc/HOWTO its called Shadow-Password-HOWTO.gz, the
same for Debian, use zless to read it.
SuSe has it in /usr/doc/howto/ and is also called Shadow-Password-HOWTO.gz

If the gentelman concerned has not got it in any of those directorys then
it can be found at;

Just like all the other HOWTO's.
