ppp with AOL

I use slackware. Kernel-Ver. 2.0.30.
I try to get ppp with an AOL-Account.
Under Win 95 I'd take me a username with password. In Linux I'd tryed
with minicom to login with my name and password in the AOL-Net-Server in
our town. But he let me not in. I think when this can not run how can
ppp run.
