RPMS Error

I have encountered an error when trying to install new Rpm's under RH 5.1.
After a fresh install, I start X and try to run the RPM manager.  I mount
the CD-ROM containing the RPMS (RH Option Pack) and the RPM Manager will
fail after about reading 80% of the RPM database.  It has done this on
multiple different copies.  Is there a flaw in this?

Everything that I use is from 2.0.34-0.6

Also is this a fairly stable version?
