Sorry no idea, all i have is a suggestion, why not just download the
Offical linux kernel source in tar form from funet or one of its mirrors,
all that is then needed is to create a new directory like linux-2.0.34 then
'ln -s linux-2.0.34 linux' then use a one line 'tar' command in /usr/src to
unpack the new kernel source like,
'tar xzf /path/to/linux-2.0.34.tar.gz'

Or have linux-2.0.34.tar.gz in /usr/src and issue,
tar xzf linux-2.0.34.tar.gz

I have not answerd your question, however, thats the way we all had to do it
before Mr, Redhat gave you "rpm".
I find it easier that way..
