First off...I would like to say that I feel for you. That's just plain
stupid, sending someone some email with death threats. They should be in
your face with it. That's when you kick his a$$ and then take him to the
cops. :)
Anyway...to answer your question, I don't know of any way you can trace
an AOL Mail-Message (I AM HIGHLY ignorant about AOL's Mail protocols, but I
know they don't use POP3 or SMTP). I have some ideas you can try though.
First off, try to get some kind of mail filter (if your isp runs procmail,
which most do, use that) and try to record the senders IP if you can. Then
you can try to pick apart the Message again and look at the ID...I think
it's called an AOLMPID. I'm NOT SURE! See if you can make a connection
with the mailbox and the MPID. I know this didn't tell you much...but
that's what I would do.
Again...I feel for you!
Hope this helps!
