Well I did it! Somehow I messed up my dialer where now I can't connect to my
ISP.
I am using pppd (I think thats the program), and while I haven't changed
anything in my files I dial my ISP and I get [-error-] 137.186.21.2 is not
responding."
I have re-examined my files in /usr/sbin/ppp-on and I can't see where
anything has changed. I can manually run the dialer by entered ppp-on and it
connects. That would tell me that it is accepting my user name and password.
I say this because I can leave the connection up for as long as I want. So
it must be happy with what I entered.
Then I enter fetchpop or fetchmail or popclient - and this is where I get
the "[-error-]" message back. And yet I have changed nothing in any of these
files...
I have tried eveyrthing and am lost. It must be something like a 'name
server error', but why is this happening? All I can think is that something
became corrupted and now I am sick..
Any thoughts would be appreciated..
