I am unfamilier with your distribution, however a lot of distro's have a
sysbolic link in /etc pointing to the directory containg the timezone
configuration files.

For example Redhat would have something like;

/etc/localtime -> ../usr/share/zoneinfo/GMT

That sets the clock to GMT, changing it to another timezone is the point i am
trying to make.
