I've got a P166 with 64Megs of RAM (EDO, 2x32). Yesterday, I added
another 16 Megs (EDO, 2x8) for a total of 80 Megs. The boot RAM test
counted all 80 Meg, and Win95 worked just fine. Linux (Redhat 5.1), on
the other
hand, was completely unhappy -- following reboot I never got the same
problem twice, but they ranged from inability to load one or more
drivers (e.g., gpm) to
kernel panic! When I took the 16 Megs of RAM out, linux once again was
happy.

Is there something I need to do PRIOR to installing the new RAM? Is
there a default limit of 64 Megs somewhere? If not, I suppose that it
may be a timimg problem between the old and new RAM and I'm just SOL...

I thought 64 Megs would be enough, but now that I'm using KDE, I seem to
have 1.5 Megs of free RAM no matter what I'm doing...

Thanks,

Dave
