Some packages _add_ things to the environment, and might touch or create
.bashrc or .bash_profile, but basically, if you want to customize bash,
you've got to make the files yourself.

It will, when you logout and it wants to remember what you typed that
session, so it can recall them for you when you hit up arrow next time.
