Hi Gang!

        I've noticed something strange being logged to /var/log/messages
and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on it...

<------End------>

        As you can see, it's happening every 20 minutes and when you run
your machine 24/7 like a lot of us do it can make for some pretty large
log files in next to no time.

        Here's a copy of the relevant parts of my /etc/syslog.conf file...

<------syslog.conf------>
*.=info;*.=notice;\
        kern,mail,news.none                     /var/log/messages
*.=debug                                        /var/log/debug
*.err                                           /var/log/syslog
*.=crit;kern.none                               /var/log/critical
kern.*                                          /var/log/kernel
mail,news.*                                     /var/log/mail-news
*.=emerg                                        *
*.=emerg                                        /var/log/critical
*.alert                                         root,jackall
<------End------>

        Thanks for any help on this. Oh, and before I forget, I'm running
Slackware 3.6, kernel 2.2.9 & 2.3.5 (it happens in both 2.2 & 2.3
kernels).
