on red hat, and maybe i can find out if this is the wrong approach, i always
created a file in my home directory called .Xclients and made it executable
with chmod 755. the only line in it would be "/usr/local/bin/blackbox" but
in this case, "start-kde" would be the answer i think. or maybe you will
need to include the while path...

the other option in RH6 is to use the GNOME control center and add KDE
to the Window Manager option and then start it that way. i haven't had a
lot of success running a GNOME session & KDE. i haven't been real
motivated to make it work either.
