I am trying to connect my NT workstation to
a Linux box using Samba. When I am in NT, I can see the Linux system
listed under the same workgroup as my NT Workstation, but I cannot access
anything.
Until I turned on the encrypt feature
(suggested to me by Ray Olszewski ) I could only get a message on NT that said
it could not log me on from this location. I checked the encrypt feature,
but now I get the message "
"incorrect password or unknown user for
linux1" (linux1 is the name of my Linux station)
I am using the same name password (and case)
on each machine. I have added my name to the smb.conf configuration and
verified it through RH6.0 linuxconf-network-samba configuration.
I have tried uncommenting the line that says
"guest account = pcguest"
I also tried modifying the security line
from "security = user" and changing it to the other
option
"password server = NT" which is
the other option.
I also tried the options of wins
support = yes / wins support = no / and wins server
= w.x.y.z
I ran out of ideas on this, do any of you have any ideas of where my trouble may
be?
