Just remove the # in front of one or more of the lines in inetd.conf.

#pop-2   stream  tcp     nowait  root    /usr/sbin/tcpd ipop2d
#pop-3   stream  tcp     nowait  root    /usr/sbin/tcpd ipop3d
#imap    stream  tcp     nowait  root    /usr/sbin/tcpd imapd

then /etc/rc.d/init.d/inet restart

and you have instant pop and imap services. You may want to look into
getting the latest patches for these.
