I wonder if someone might be able to offer any thoughts on why my rc.cyclades file works fine with kernel 2.0.36 and not with 2.2.12? Here is what I see running these two kernels. Kernel-2.2.12 Configuring serial ports....done. /dev/ttyS0 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS1 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS2 at 0x0140 (irq = 10) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS3 at 0x0148 (irq = 10) is a 16550A ----------------------- Kernel-2.0.36 Configuring serial ports....done. /dev/ttyS0 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS1 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS2 at 0x0140 (irq = 10) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS3 at 0x0148 (irq = 10) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS4 at 0x0150 (irq = 10) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS5 at 0x0158 (irq = 10) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS6 at 0x0160 (irq = 10) is a 16550A /dev/ttyS7 at 0x0168 (irq = 10) is a 16550A As you can see 4 ports are being missed with the 2.2.x kernel and attempts to install them manully won't work. Here is what I see: Here is what it looks like when I run ttyS6 manually: bash: /dev/ttyS6: Permission denied ve1drg:/etc/rc.d# ${SETSERIAL} /dev/ttyS6 uart 16550a port 0x160 irq 10 ^fourport These are the permissions on port ttyS6: crw--w--w- 1 root tty 4, 70 Sep 8 14:40 ttyS6 Any thoughts would be appreciated.. -- Ted Gervais <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 44.135.34.254 gw.ve1drg.ampr.org
