Greetings!

Does anyone have an idea why emacs would hang? I have tried under root
and a normal user, it just hangs whether I try to open an existing file,
start 'newfile' or just use ./emacs. the only thing I have changed were
some quick scripts to mount unmount a floppy.

I have read the manual at the Free Software Foundation. there is
nothing online that cover this problem.

Correction. In the 10 minutes or so to write this and search the GNU
manual, emacs has finally 'loaded' into the scratch buffer. However on
another terminal it still hangs, both as the same user and another on a
different terminal, it still hangs.

Other processes execute immediately, and I have never had a problem
before. None of the files mentioned in the manual ring any bells as to
whether I have been in them or not. Hence rm-f emacs does is not a
possibility.:)

thank you in advance!!

Peter

P.S. I tried the doctor, did Richard have to include _that_ in the
manual??? ;-)
