I'm a new user to Linux and I recently installed Rh6.0, made it through the installation okay but when I installed the modem, I found that it only works under root. When I log-in as a user and try to bring it up I get a message "ppd is not properly installed. The ppd binary must be installed with the SUID bit set". One of my books said to make sure that the "allow any user to (de)activate interface" option was selected under the network configuration screen and I've done that but it still doesn't work under my user account.
