ok. it tried the suggestion of the README.linux file, it seems to
have worked on the machine i upgraded. it did nothing on the
fresh install machine. hmm. i have read a dozen posts on various
lists about this exact problem. i have not been able to find any
responses that really answer the question. yes, there is a pap-secrets
file. i would like to solve this without having to downgrade to
the RH6.0 version of ppp.
