I am running a samba file server on Slackware 3.5 (2.0.34) with win95
clients. Each client
can see its share on the samba server.

Now I connected a WIN98 machine on to the same network using IDENTICAL
settings as
previous win95 clients (except for shares and user names specific to each
machine, of course).
However, the WIN98 machine cannot see its share on the samba server. Any
attempt to do
so would bring up the following window

Enter Network Passwork
You must supply a password to make this connection
Resource: \\SERVER\IPC$
Password:

Upon typing the password and/or clicking OK, I get
The password is incorrect. Try again.

Here are some more clues:
1. WIN98 can see the server in Network Neighbourhood.
2. WIN98 and server can ping one another.

Could someone point to the right direction please?

TIA
Shaggy
