I had that same problem once with  my redhat6.0 and the solution is so
simple that I didn't see it. All you have to do is "upgrade" your
installation of Linux it don't matter what, just add some small thing from
the redhat install CD (boot your system right from the CD and choose upgrade
when prompted it's easier)upgrade by choosing something that's not already
installed on your system and at the end of the upgrade you will be prompted
at the usual lilo boxes and such, and bingo the liloboot will be back. This
is the easiest way to do it without messing around with all kinds of files,
I assume your talking about a Redhat installation if your talking about
slackware or something else then I have no idea how to fix it. This works
and I do it every time I reinstall windoze98.  I hope this helps   --Chris
