Depends what you mean with "very little effort".
As newbee I configurated, procmail, fetchmail, sendmail, leafnode
and booked some "dayjobs"...
Not enough...I installed mutt with a well working muttrc and
as Newsreader gnus...
Now please do not tell me, that "all" these apps. are easy to
install and will run right out of the box.
