        If you have a laplink cable (I have) you can use PLIP.  That's
IP over the parallel port.  Then you can use ftp if you like.  It's just
a point to point network connection then.

        Because it doesn't make sense?  It's a network interface.

        I use PLIP as a private backbone between my two co-located web
servers.  Gives me about 1 MBit connectivity which is just fine for the
backup and administrative stuff I use it for.
