While reading up on various tips'n'rules for IPChains, there are some
warnings about when(at bootup) and how(the rules) to implement a
firewall.

So just how insecure is your average Linux machine after a fresh
install? If all you have done is setup a PPP connection, are you
greatly at rist?

I'm just assuming there may be a lot of risk as even a newbie IPChains
firewall seems to be low-security.

BTW: I visited a site that generates a firewall for you. Didn't
understand a word of it :-)
