Its not so much the name of the card but what chipset it uses.

One of the most common Creative labs soundblasters at this minute is the
AWE PCI64 which uses the es1371 driver.

I suggest you check /usr/doc/HOWTO/Sound-HOWTO

Note the above is from Redhat,
Slackware is;
/usr/doc/Linux-HOWTOs/Sound-HOWTO
Take a look into /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound also, there are files
for most sound cards there.
