Nope. It isn't predictable at all; although, it seems to be happening right
away now. Within a minute. Used to be I could go as long as 5 minutes.

I tried that. After pinging, the number of TX packets did not change. Below
is the output of ifconfig -a. I didn't see anything out of whack, but I'm
hardly an expert.

I turned on logging for pppd, but I dont' have it set at the highest level.
Does anyone know how to do this under kppp? Hmmm. . . Maybe under pppd
arguments, eh? I'll try that.

Lucky me. It now happens any ol time. I did run for quite a while over the
weekend without the connection hanging. Maybe my modem only works weekends.
