Ah I did that a while back, sure you don't want to just get 6.0 or 6.1 ?
Anyway go to the source RedHat, 
They have step by step instructions on how to upgrade 5.2 to 2.2.X
(2.2.7 in my case). They also have the links to all the rpms needed, in
fact they also have the rpms in a separate directory on their ftp site (
and the mirrors) I think the jump in point would be the erratta pages.
There is also a good doc about upgrading to 2.2 (general) but I can't
remember where it is locate - the Name is "Going to 2.2" or something -
sorry. The ultimate is of course the kernel docs that come with the
source, these are a must read.

The reason I say skip to six is that the above docs left 5.1 owners out
in the cold so more recent changes may leave you up a creek....

In general, Stevens (RIP) is a good source for Unix Programming. While
the book is quite I do find him a tad annoying.
