Thanks to Ray and Lawson for their input into the problem I have been
having with root. It seems that if I am in a terminal window and type
*su* which chnages me to root, I still cannot make changes or add lines to
the conf.modles file. I got to thinking that perhaps logging off
completely, then logging on as root might help. Well, it did. Seems that
I can make the usual changes, additions when I log in as root, but not
from a terminal window. Don't know why, but at least I added the:
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
line to the conf.modules file. Went to printtool and all went fine.
Tried several printers to emulate my HP DeskJet 820Cse, tried the print
test, and couldn't get any to work. Anyone have any suggestions which
printers to try?
