Same thing happens here, and 'oftener' on boxen with less RAM. This leads me to
believe that this problem is one manifestation of netscape's memory leak, perhaps it
not respecting it's assigned stack space and overflowing into Kpanel's. Perhaps
someone with more programming knowledge (i.e. lots of people on this list....) could
elucidate?

No, you should look for another browser. KDE's konqueror, due out with KDE 2.0, looks
promising.
