That's not quite correct, there is ELKS, embedded Linux kernel subset. It runs just 
fine on my Amstrad PC 1640, which is governed by an enormously powerful 8086 
processor. Only trouble is, there is no HDD on that computer, so you're somewhat 
limited concerning installing libs and programs. One 360 K floppy (and I mean a real 
floppy floppy...) is not so much. BTW, Jon "Maddog" Hall is a prominent contributor to 
ELKS.
