$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
 "What happens when you type "

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Thats NOT AN ERROR, it means what it says, no such file or directory, yes
you do see acroread with correct permissions but you cannot execute that
file without a preceeding ./ when you are in that directory, and the most
IMPORTANT thing here is YOU CANT EXECUTE that file as it will return;

./acroread: error in loading shared libraries:
      libreadcore.so: cannot open shared object file:
      no such file or directory.

/usr/local/Acrobat4/bin/acroread is a script which starts
/usr/local/Acrobat4/Reader/intellinux/bin/acroread
