We were finally able to get DLR working for RHEL5 via:

wget -q -O - 
http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/Linux_Repository_14.12.00/bootstrap.cgi

This gave us a recent enough BIOS for what we need.    (You'd expect that older 
OS's reside on older h/w.)

http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/latest/platform_independent/rh50_64/
is pretty empty so it looks like support for RHEL5 is not in DLR either any 
more.
