[EXTERNAL EMAIL]

Good morning all,

I have just about finished patching up to date (RHEL 7.8) 18 physical Dell
servers of various modern types.

All of them are fine, with one curious exception.

The dsm_sa_datamgrd service used by omreport and friends consistently fails to
start at boot time:

   Jun 18 07:34:56 mailhost-1b systemd[1]: dsm_sa_datamgrd.service start
operation timed out. Terminating.

If I try and start the service by hand after boot it fails about one time in
three. However even when the service is running I only get
partial results.

Compare the unhappy system:

mailhost-1b[mailuser:~]$ /opt/dell/srvadmin/bin/omreport chassis
Health

Main System Chassis

SEVERITY : COMPONENT
Ok : Memory
Ok : Processors

to a healthy one:

mailhost-3a[mailuser:~]$ /opt/dell/srvadmin/bin/omreport chassis
Health

Main System Chassis

SEVERITY : COMPONENT
Ok : Fans
Ok : Intrusion
Ok : Memory
Ok : Power Supplies
Ok : Power Management
Ok : Processors
Ok : Temperatures
Ok : Voltages
Ok : Hardware Log
Ok : Batteries

The machines should all be running identical BIOS/ILOM firmwares within their
type (I didn't update any of that stuff). Meanwhile:

   rpm --query --all

demonstrates that the two machines are running identical sets of RHEL 7.8
packages following the upgrade.

This feels like a hardware problem, but the fact that everything was working
just fine until I rebooted the system would seem to counter that argument.

My question: Is this something that you have seen before? Thanks.

Ben
