Hi, I got a Dell PE850 with a CERC 1.5 SATA controller. I put two 1TB disk in it and configured one raid 1 volume.
Now I only get about 6MB/s write performance. I already read that this card does not perform well with raid 5. Is there an know workaround that I can apply to get anywhere near a reasonable performance? I know that this hardware is quite old so I hope that someone already has a solution for this... ;) Here is how I tested: r...@host:/home/backups# dd if=/dev/zero of=testfile bs=1MB count=100 100+0 records in 100+0 records out 100000000 bytes (100 MB) copied, 7.93449 s, 12.6 MB/s r...@host:/home/backups# dd if=/dev/zero of=testfile bs=1MB count=1000 1000+0 records in 1000+0 records out 1000000000 bytes (1.0 GB) copied, 167.72 s, 6.0 MB/s There are 2GB of memory in this box so the 100MB test is not really correct (as far as caching is concered for example).
