We have a R905 server with an Powervault MD1120 attached via PERC 6/e controller. It has been working without issue for >6 months.
Overnight and this morning I see about a dozen instances of the
following sets of messages:
Jul 28 10:02:42 athena Server Administrator: Storage Service EventID:
2266 Controller log file entry: Sense key: 0 Sense code: 0 Sense
qualifier: 0: Physical Disk 0:0:16 Controller 2, Connector 0
Jul 28 10:02:43 athena Server Administrator: Storage Service EventID:

reset (Type 03): Physical Disk 0:0:16 Controller 2, Connector 0
Jul 28 10:02:44 athena Server Administrator: Storage Service EventID:
2095 SCSI sense data Sense key: 6 Sense code: 29 Sense qualifier: 2:

2095 SCSI sense data Sense key: 6 Sense code: 29 Sense qualifier: CD:
Physical Disk 0:0:16 Controller 2, Connector 0
These messages appear in syslog and in OMSA. In OMSA they are marked
with a big, friendly green tick, suggesting that they are 'Normal' or
'Expected'. I'm inclined to disagree, given my general impression that
SCSI messages which just suddenly appear are normally a portent of
something serious.
All messages refer to the same physical disk, which suggests to me that
something may be wrong with it.
There are no further messages to the ones reported as above (i.e. no
generic kernel SCSI errors or similar).
Can anyone suggest what might be happening here and therefore reassure
me that there's nothing to worry about (or otherwise!), please?
Thanks,
Dave.
