I don't think you'll be able to make it work. I believe the latest version of OM that's supported on the 2550s is 4.5. Everything before 5.x used binary kernel modules. As such they won't load into current kernels and source isn't available to re-compile them either. As such I don't think you'll be able to get any version of OM working on that system.
