Two questions:
1. Can you PLEASE turn off HTML in your mail client?
2. What's the purpose of this? Using one modem for uplink and one for
downlink provides absolutely no advantage, except making more money for
the telephone company. Modems are full-duplex. This means that they can
send data at the same time they receive data. So downloading a file has
little or no effect on the throughput of simultaneously uploading a file.
The _only_ reason I can think of for doing this (and this is a long shot)
is if you have two 56k modems, each with it's 'server side' on the
opposite end of the link. 56k modems are only 56k downstream, and are
28.8 upstream. So, by having two 56k modems sort of 'back to back', you
could get 56k both directions. But if you can afford a BRI (the cheapest
way to set up a 56k server--at least in this area) on both ends, you might
as well use dual-band ISDN and get 128k full-duplex instead of 56k.
Any advantage you gain by using two modems will be very
insignificant--probably unnoticable, and definately not worth the cost of
a second phone line and second modem.
If you need more bandwidth with two modems, your only worth-while option,
IMHO, is EQL--and it's rare that an ISP supports that, but certianly worth
checking in to.
