Hi all,

We're having massive problems with Linux-2.2.{1,2,3} and our raid.
We'd been running Linux-2.0.35 with software raid5 on a 100+ GB
file system for months with reasonable stability. However upon
upgrading to 2.2.{1,2,3} the machine kept locking up (frozen hard,
not even a polite panic). The machine locked up only after the raid
became active, typically less than an hour after ckraid finished,
so sometimes even before fsck finished.

Now ckraid finds parity errors, which it will not correct.
(I was using raidtools-0.41 ...) Now it seems raidtools-0.51.1
has the power to fix the parity errors, but that too freezes
under 2.2.{2,3} and won't compile on rh5.0 + 2.0.35.

What should we do? We'd like to move to rh5.2 + 2.2.3 on that
server. We'd consider buying a DPT (or Mylex or whatever) card.
Anything, frankly, to get a stable raid under 2.2.3.
