Something about RAID 1

Good morning,
I am a redhat linux administrator and I need some informations about RAID.
I have 2 SCSI disk and on the first I have the root filesystem ( / ) ,
the second is totally empty.
The first question : the RAID 1 (mirror) work properly on the boot disk ??
In affermative case, how can I do this ?
Can you help me for something about my problem ??
