well, i've gone back to the 2.2 series, i'm now using a 2.2.13 kernel, and
well, it does exactly the same thing.
does someone have a clue ?

# mkraid /dev/md0
handling MD device /dev/md0
analyzing super-block
disk 0: /dev/hdb1, 15016648kB, raid superblock at 15016576kB
disk 1: /dev/hde1, 15016648kB, raid superblock at 15016576kB
disk 2: /dev/hdf1, 15016648kB, raid superblock at 15016576kB
disk 3: /dev/hdg1, 15016648kB, raid superblock at 15016576kB
disk 4: /dev/hdh1, 15016648kB, raid superblock at 15016576kB
mkraid: aborted, see the syslog and /proc/mdstat for potential clues.

and still nothing in my syslog or /proc/mdstat.
