Mylex DAC960

Does anyone know of the issue on a DAC960 for responsivness? I am running a DAC960 
accross 8 drives (9 GIG each) I am using SuSE 6.2, SAMBA, and Netatalk. Seems the 
performance is really spotty. I am wondering is the new drivers off dandelion.com can 
be incoporated into my kernel 2.2.10? If they can will it destroy the current 
configuration?
