FWIW, it has been documented at least twice on this list that a RAID5
with no hot-spare can lose two drives and it will keep going... the
two typical lines in the syslog are like:

raid5: Disk failure on sdl1, disabling device. Operation continuing on 8 devices
raid5: Disk failure on sdf1, disabling device. Operation continuing on 7 devices

I've been trying to figure out how the raid5_error logic should be redone
but a lack of real understanding as to the raid_disks vs. working_disks,
etc.  have kept me from rewriting it... please feel free :)
