Or you can optionally try the following patch bundle:

        ftp://ftp.nodak.edu/pub/linux/ESD/kernel/raid0145-19990824-2.2.13.gz

This patch set should drop cleanly onto a virgin 2.2.13 kernel.  We
have numerous production machines running kernels based on this patch
set and things seem to be fine with it.
