howto problems

Hi,
We try to put in RAID-1 (kernel 2.2.12)
2XIDE IBM 18Gb

the partitions are on hda/hdb:
/
/boot
/home

/home works in Raid-1 fine. 

The problem we have is:
- how to setup raid in / ? (we have kernel panic) 
- which file to change ?

Where can we find out the (new) Howto / Initrd ?
