That's just evil.  :-)  Floppy drives are relatively hard to kill, out of 50
machines in the labs, I replace about 1 or 2 drives a semester.  I replace
about 1 HD every 3 semesters.  However, floppy diskettes are INCREDIBLY
fragile.  If you set it on top of your speakers, or near a cell phone, or
even near a monitor, you could end up with all your bits in a bind.  I
usually keep 2 boot floppies around, but only because I like to have
something there in case my boot CDs or drives die.  And those are only for
when my HD dies to the point that I can't boot from it, which is pretty
rare.  Stay away from booting from floppy except in an emergency, they are
NOT reliable.
