Redhat 6.2 raid 5 shutdown

Hi,     Everytime i do a shutdown or reboot of the system, the raid 5 array do not sync properly. The reconstruction will only take place after i boot up again. Is there anyway to force it to do a raid5 sync properly during shutdown. Thank you.
